INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian Head Massage is a relaxing, yet invigorating experience.

Massage in some form or other has always been practiced in India and is a normal part of family life within the Indian community, even today, from birth, through to old age.  Head massage was used in India for grooming hair and barbers used it and they have developed it, passing it down through generations.  Another word for head massage is the Hindu word Champi and it is interesting to see that our own word 'shampoo' comes from this word and relates directly to the stimulating head massage given by Indian barbers.

Now Head Massage has been extended to include the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck and face, key areas of stress, which is why it is so useful for stress management.  It is purely a manipulation of the 'soft tissue', no manipulation of bones is included in the massage.

PHYSICAL BENEFITS include:

Improvement of blood circulation to the face, head, neck, shoulders and arms.  Blood brings nutrients and oxygen to muscle tissue and removes waste, relieving chronic neck and shoulder stiffness.

Stimulation of lymphatic drainage, removing waste from the body's cells and draining excess fluid and helping to keep the body's immunity in tiptop condition.

Disperses toxins in the muscles that cause them to be tight and sore, loosening 'knots'.

Relieves sinusitis and congestion of the nasal area.

Loosens the scalp and by increasing circulation to the scalp you help promote healthy hair growth and condition.

Improves skin tone and muscle tone.

Helps eye strain and eye ache.

By relieving tight sore muscles, it may help to relieve headaches and insomnia.

MENTAL BENEFITS include:

Helps with mental tiredness anxiety and stress.

A feeling of complete relaxation is achieved.

Restores energy flow to the body.

Gives a heightened level of alertness and concentration.
