Hypnosis is a totally natural state, entered into by an individual by their own free will. It's a bit like daydreaming, or the state just before falling off to sleep, or even when you are engrossed in listening to music or reading a book. It is in this state that suggestions can be easily accepted by the subconcious mind, but only suggestions that are for your benefit. You would not act on anything that you thought was unacceptable, or went against your moral judgement.
Many people think that by being in hypnosis, you are under the control of the hypnotist. This is not so, you are in complete control. You do not become unconscious and can resume normal activity immediately afterwards, eg driving and operating machinery.
Also a common misconception is that you can get stuck in hypnosis and won't wake up. This is not the case. You can leave the hypnotised state whenever you want to. Some people become so relaxed that they don't want to open their eyes straight away, because it is so pleasant.
There is no actual hypnotised feeling, most people will feel wonderfully relaxed and lazy and you will have a full and accurate memory of everything afterwards.
Hypnosis alone is unlikely to provide relief from your symptoms, whatever your symptoms might be. It is the therapy that is carried out within the state of hypnosis that is important. It is the healing part of the work that helps the client create the change they need.
Suggestion therapy is one of the methods used to create change. It could help with:
Confidence boosting - Quit Smoking - Exam nerves - Fears and Stresses, including Fear of Flying, Fear of the Dentist, etc. - Driving Test nerves - Public speaking - Nail biting - Unwanted habits - Weight Control.
Some of these problems will only need two or three sessions. Quit smoking is one double session.
For more deep rooted problems, Hypnoanalysis may be used. Analytical therapy aims to find and remove the underlying original cause of things that the client experiences as emotional and psychological difficulties, which could be things like:
Irrational Fears and Phobias - Relationship and Psychosexual Problems - Lack of Confidence - Sleeping problems - Inferiority Complex - Problems Losing Weight - Anxiety and Panic Attacks - Unhappiness - Depression - Skin Conditions -Blushing - Eating Disorders - Insomnia - OCD - Pain Control - Tinnitus - Sports Success - ME/CFS- Lack of Self Esteem - PTSD and many more mind related problems.
Analytical therapy may take between six to twelve sessions, but it is impossible to give an exact amount, because all problems are individual.
Many clients have found suggestion therapy and analytical therapy helpful. Sometimes I may use other techniques, for example NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) EMDR (Eye movement desensitizing and reprogramming) to provide the best therapy. A very new a immensely valuable therapy is Symbio-dynamics, which does not necessarily need the application of hypnosis. Whatever therapy is used, it is tailored to the individual requirements of the client.
I provide a free consultation so that you can decide if the therapy is suitable for you. Doctors consent must be given for some clients where there could be an underlying medical condition. This is to safeguard you from the possibility that, whilst you receive therapy, an illness which requires medical attention could be getting worse. This does not mean that hypnotherapy cannot help with such conditions, it could help people cope with physical symptoms.
If I have not listed your particular problem and you are not sure that I can help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
